Seating & views
Boone Pickens Stadium seats about 52,000 and is the only Big 12 stadium that runs east to west, a layout chosen in 1920 to blunt Stillwater's prevailing winds. The defense at the east end faces sun glare in afternoon games. The field was lowered 12 feet in 1971, leaving one of the smallest gaps between the field and the stands in college football. A 2003-2009 rebuild added the west end zone, a brick Georgian exterior and a connection to Gallagher-Iba Arena. Premium options include suites, club seating, Sky Lofts and mega suites on the west end club level. Section numbers changed in 2024.
Parking & tailgating
Lots near the stadium are POSSE donor parking, opening at 8 a.m. on Saturdays, with POSSE RV lots on Hall of Fame Avenue and McDonald. Visitor RVs can use Lots 84 and 112 on north campus, and RV lots open at 5:30 p.m. the night before. Public parking is free downtown, with a free shuttle from 7th and Lewis to the stadium starting two hours before kickoff. Tailgating is limited to designated campus areas, and spots can be claimed from noon Friday. Athletic Avenue closes for a free pregame block party with vendors on the stadium's north side.
